Who is the Bigger Sell Out: You or the Terrorist Whore?

Bigger sell outWhen we do our jobs, there are lines that we do not dare to cross. However, not all people have this way of thinking. For corporate slaves and terrorist whores, they do everything they can to do the job even if it means being a sell out. But who is the bigger sell out? You or the terrorist whore?

There are a lot of prominent people who have been called as a sell out. He/She is someone who gives away his principles for convenience, pragmatism or profitability.  It can be used as one way to make money around the world or to make headway in your line of work. For the corporate slaves and sex workers, being a sell out would mean surrendering their body and/or soul.

Who is the Bigger Sell Out: You or the Terrorist Whore?

They say that being true to yourself ain’t that plain sailing. Since our culture promotes competition, it becomes quite difficult to stay true to yourself and to uphold our principles. When push comes to shove, we will do what’s necessary to get through. In the case of prostitutes, that would mean selling their body.

Feminists think that peddling your body for cash is a tragedy. But it is more tragic that there are people who are disposed towards shelling out money to exploit that opportunity. Regardless of the monikers being tagged to them, there are prostitutes who actually believe that they are not completely selling their body, but more of “renting” it in a regulated manner. For them, they are called us a “sell out” because some people find it hard to understand that they chose sex work over other kinds of jobs in this post-industrial capitalism era.

If there’s one thing that separate prostitutes from corporate slaves, it is that their life and soul are not being sucked by the endless vortex of work demands. Apparently, clocking in and out for 40 hours a week on average is not enough. One would need to offer their body and soul to the corporate world to get things done.

A concrete sign of being a total sell out is sacrificing your time that you should be spending with your loved ones for work. You also struggle with balancing your work and life, and get easily perturbed by your performance at work. Sometimes, it may feel that sex workers are the less sell out, since they can negotiate with their clients and even refuse demands that they are not inclined to do. In your case, you are always compelled to do work while it drains you physically, mentally and emotionally. But don’t get me wrong. Sex work is also exhausting in various ways. In the end, it depends on how much of a sell out you want to be.
